The Peugeot 309 is nearly extinct, so what a pleasure it was to come across J389 FWS parked on the streets of Bristol.
Don’t let the red bumper inserts of this limited-edition Trio model fool you into thinking this is a sporty 309 though. Under the bonnet there’s a 1.1-litre version of the long running TU petrol engine which was good for just 55hp when it was new.
Trio edition cars also gained striped decals that ran the length of bodywork as well as unusual green seatbelts that often found their way into customised Peugeot 205s.
It’s clear to see that someone has taken great care to keep this car in such impressive original condition. An odometer reading of just 76,141 miles was recorded at this car’s last MOT test.
Petrolblog wrote an excellent homage to the Peugeot 309 that’s well worth reading.
