This behemoth of a motor car cost over £140,000 new and owes gravity more than 2.5 tons. It’s very rare to see one casually parked on public roads like this.
This Bentley Arnage is just short of twenty years old having first been registered in summer 2001. Being a Red Label car, Y714FNH uses the legendary Rolls Royce/Benley L-series 6.75-litre V8 engine.
Different versions of this engine were used on most Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars for more than four decades, making it the powerplant with the second-longest production run in history after Chevy’s small-block V8.
A Garrett T4 turbocharger boosts power to the 400hp mark, but it’s the colossal 616 lb/ft torque figure that you shouldn’t overlook. As Harry Metcalfe of Evo pointed out back when this car was new, a Red Label Arnage had 58% more torque than a 6.0-litre Mercedes V12!
Peeking inside, the Arnage was every bit as lavish as you’d expect, with miles of the finest cow hide set against stunning cuts of wood.
Glance at any buyer’s guide on these cars and you’ll quickly see how maintenance and repairs can be ruinous, even to those with deep pockets.
It seems Y714 FNH has covered just under 35,000 miles at the time of its last MOT, though in more recent years has covered as little as 200 miles between tests.
